The Cookie Diet

9

The cookie diet may possibly take the cake as the world’s worst ever fad diet. In essence this diet states that amino acids baked into cookies can control hunger.

save a cookie dietFad diets seem to be all over the world these days. In general a fad diet is a diet which is designed to last for short periods of time, during which large amounts of weight can allegedly be lost.

As with many of this diets such as the cookie diet, these diets depend on one miracle food that claims to have amazing properties for weight loss.

In saying this in a sense you can see how they are something like the old traveling medicine shows of the wild west, in which a slick talking salesman would expound on the virtues of some magical formula that would solve all the weight problems of the world created by a Guru of some type.

Dr. Siegal’s Cookie Diet – More than half a million people have used his cookies to lose weight. Now it’s your turn!

The cookie diet was conceived by a physician known as Sanford Siegel in 1975 while he was studying for a book on the effects of natural foods on human hunger. To abide by the cookie diet individuals would consume six cookies every day, plus a normal dinner. Persons on the fat loss diet ate only 800 calories a day.

Many folks went absolutely crazy over the cookie diet to the degree that 14 centers were opened in Florida. By the 1980’s 200 or so doctors were promoting the very popular cookie diet. The very clever doctor came out with soups and shakes that also contained the amino acids needed to control hunger all on the coat tails of his famed diet.

Later many Hollywood superstars grabbed their own version of the cookie diet. This diet was given a great deal of media attention in part because of the marketing and promotion efforts of attention grabbing stars and starlets.  The same as the original cookie diet the Hollywood version also replaced breakfast and lunch with the amino acid cookies, then allowed a reasonable dinner.

The four cookies permitted on this diet consisted of a combined 600 calories and various vitamins.

If you are considering the cookie diet you need to take the advice of Donnie Brasco’s and forget about it. Eat less and make it healthy food, exercise more that’s the formula for good health.  In truth this is a much healthier way to lose or maintain perfect weight rather than relying on some flash in the pan miracle food or diets, even if it is endorsed by someone famous you recognize from your favorite movie.

For those interested, there are two separate diets for smart for life – There is the lower calorie program that is Doctor supervised consists of 800 calories – on that program you should not be exercising more than 100 calorie burned in one work out ( it puts you in a deficiency of calories and you store fat)
Then there is the non-medical program that consists of 1200-1500 calories, You can work out on this program it is higher and you loose a little less. Believe me, If you have any inkling to loose 12-15 lbs a month defiantly do the lower calorie, If you have diabetes or blood pressure problems check out the medical program it’s awesome. Check out there office in Jupiter, Florida They are the nicest people and weighing in at the office helps you feel accountable they have many other offices, though, or on the internet at smartforlife.com Good Luck Everyone !!

Well Fad Diets are no good. Here’s the thing the Smart For Life cookie program is simply calories. Are Calories a Fad? I don’t think so they also have shakes soup and muffins. Calories are broken down into 3 things – Protein, Carbs and Fat they also have Fiber – If you can tell me anything wrong with a healthy balance of carbs, fat & Protein I’ll believe this program is in fact Fad. Other than that I have seen many people loose weight, get off their Blood pressure med, cut down on insulin IT’S REAL! Check out the Smart For Life website im sure there is more information on it.

the Smart for life program has been working for me. Not only are their products all natural and organic, their cookies are far better than the other cookies program mentioned in this blog. They have so much more of a variety with their cookies, muffins, Bagels, Granola, soups and shakes. They also offer more support than any other program to lose weight. I have been thrilled. Not only am I on it, I have my teenage daughter since this is far healthier and less expensive than the snacks and food offered in her school.I originally started on line, unaware that a center was close by but am now doing their suppervised program. I woul check them out at http://www.smartforlife.com

  4. I am preferred with the smart for life program among the cookie diet because it has medically supervised program and a home program. Smart cookies consist of fiber, protein and amino acids that are essential to our body. It might be effective for a certain fast weight loss diet.

  8. Fad diets come and go. They are great to kick start a diet but not so great to stay on and often result in binging. Your best bet is always diet and excersize.
